中国語表記だとアメリカは『美国』？
続いてコトバで戸惑ったのは，国名ですかね。これも「中国生活プチあるある」の１つだと思いますが，例えば，サッカーワールドカップやオリンピックなどを中国のニュースで見ても当然「？」となります。「どの国とどの国が対戦しているのだ？？」という状況に陥ります。比較的よく目にする国名，アメリカ，イギリス，フランスなどは徐々に覚えましたが，普段あまり目にしない国名などは，後で日本語放送やネットで確認することもしばしば。特に，アフリカとか南米などの国名は迷宮にほぼ入りこみます…。
戸惑いを増幅させるのは，国名が日本と同じ漢字を使っているとは限らないことです(T_T)。アメリカは日本語では米国ですが，中国語では美国です。イギリスは同じ英国ですが，フランスは仏国が法国となります…。
今さらですけれど，ご存じの方も多いと思いますが，中国語にはカタカナは当然ありません（あたりまえです。失礼しました）。全て漢字で表記されています。併せて漢字も日本とは異なっていて，中国で使われている漢字は「簡体字」といいます。
それでも中国語学習をする上では，英語圏の方々に比べれば，漢字を使用している日本人は有利なんだと思います。簡体字を見てもなんとなく意味が分かったような（大体間違っていたりします）気持ちになってしまいますが，発音はもちろん違いますし意味も異なることが多いのです。初心者の私が言うのもナンですが，全くの別の言語と思って学習することが必要です。
また，日本人はよく「すいません」といいますが，中国ではあまり聞かないかもしれませんねー。日本語の「すいません」に相当するようなフレーズは１～２個覚えましたが，あまり効果がない印象です（笑）。混雑した某観光地で，覚えたてのフレーズ「不好意志」などを言いまくったことがありましたが，効果はまるでありません。これもごくフツーにあります。私達が通路を通れるように少し避けてもらうなどですが，全く気づきもしない感じでございます。
で，その時一緒に居たガイドさんが教えてくれたのは，「みんな俺/私に言っているとは全く思っていないんだよ。」と。
そうなのか～（ココで感心してもしょうがないんですけどね）。「気づいてもらうためのいい方法がありますよ。師哥（日本でいうイケメンのこと）とか美女（発音は違いますが意味は同じ）とか言うと，みんな俺/私のことだと思って気づいてくれます。」ということでした。さらにガイドさんが（そこは観光客で混雑した長い階段の下だったのですが）「ココでそのコトバを言ったら，きっと２～３人は必ず振り向くよ。」と言いつつ試そうとするので，それはさすがに止めていただきました(＠_＠;)。
