ここだけはおさえたい、プラハ市内観光
プラハは数週間いても飽きない街だが、日本人の旅は時間がなく、オーストリアやハンガリーとセットで旅行する人が多いだろう。そのため、プラハでは１～２日しかとれないという人も多いのではないか。1日しかない人でもおさえておきたい場所とルートを紹介したい。

まず、地下鉄A線マロストランスカ駅からトラム22番に乗り、ポホジェレッツ停留所で下車、ストラホフ修道院に向かう。時間がなければ、建物には寄らず、修道院とビアホールの間の通りを素通りして門をくぐって欲しい。すると、プラハ城と市内が一つの写真におさまる絶景スポットがある。
その場所から坂を下っていくと、プラハ城正門に面するフラッチャニ広場に辿り着く。プラハ城はその敷地内にある聖ヴィート大聖堂の塔が存在感を示すため、訪れたあとも「あれ、そういえばいつ城に入ったの？」という観光客の方は多い。しかし実は敷地面積で言えば世界最大のお城で、気づかずともプラハ城内にいるのだ。
ここでは時間がなくても是非チケットを買って聖ヴィート大聖堂にだけは入場して、中にあるステンドグラスを眺めていただきたい。そして時間があえば毎時行われている衛兵の交代式にも注目だ。（大きな交代式は正午のみだが、各門での小規模な交代は毎時行われている。ただしセキュリティー上の都合などで稀に行われないこともある。）
プラハ城を下って旧市街の方に向かって進むとカレル橋がある。ただ橋を渡るだけでもその景色に魅せられるが、せっかくなので橋に建てられている数十体の銅像にも注目して欲しい。中には日本でも有名なフランシスコ・ザビエルの像もある。
橋を渡り終えると、街の中心の旧市街はすぐそこ。旧市街で注目したいのが旧市庁舎の天文時計。この時計はカラクリ時計になっており、毎時そのカラクリを見ることができる。今の技術からみればたいしたことがないものだが、15世紀に作られたものとしてみれば、驚きを感じることができる。
このコースが最も基本的な市内観光コースで、３～4時間ほどのコース。短時間でプラハに行ったという感覚は味わえるのではないだろうか。
